How to Prepare Your Home for a Cleaner

4 min read

Your home does not need to be clean before a cleaning appointment. A few minutes of preparation simply allow the cleaner to begin with the bathroom, kitchen, floors and surfaces instead of spending time organising personal items.

The 10-minute preparation

Focus only on items that block access to the surfaces you want cleaned.

  • Pick up clothes, toys and loose items from the floor
  • Put dishes away or collect them in one place
  • Store fragile and personal items safely
  • Leave agreed cleaning products and equipment where they are easy to find
  • Share access details, the doorbell name and any important instructions

Explain your priorities

Mention any room that matters most before the clean begins. A clear order such as bathroom first, then kitchen, then floors is especially helpful when the appointment has a fixed duration. Tell the cleaner about sensitive materials such as natural stone, delicate wood or special fittings.

What you do not need to do

There is no need to pre-clean or make every room perfectly tidy. The aim is only to provide clear working surfaces and safe access. This lets the booked time go towards the cleaning results you actually want.
